31st December 2023, SUNDAY

Writing this on New Years Eve, somehow I feel like the year went by quickly, and now I'm getting closer to stepping into my 30s. Honestly, thinking about it, I feel like how I do when I was in my early 20's, just a bit slower and tired. Saying that makes me sounds like I'm an old person already. lol.

Kevin and I had a week off and we actually didn't have anything planned for the holidays, but we thought we should take advantage of the time off and go somewhere we've never been and so we made a last minute booking/trip to Mount Kosciuzko. I saw this place in instagram and it looked like its another world and so I had to tick it off my list. :3 It was a total of 5 hours drive South West, passing Canberra (which neither of us has been to) and let me tell you, what most people said about Canberra were TRUE! It was so boring.... We went to the Parliament House, and it looked like this ugly white building, and Kevin said it looks like a naval base. We went to see that foundation that spits water into the sky and that's about it. We didn't stay too long in Canberra and drove another 2 hours to Jindabyne.

The old parliamen house...
I imagine Auckland would feel the same just cause that tower is so similar to the Auckland tower.lol.

The accommodation (Jindy Inn) we were staying at was very reasonably prices at $185 per night, especially for the Christmas season, it is quite a reasonable and it includes continental breakfast too. The place was just by Lake Jindabyne, which was beautiful. We stayed in the first day we arrive as it started raining and enjoyed a short walk along the lake where there were 2 tiny island of trees in the middle.

Looking at those rainy clouds and thinking whether
we should do a 3 hour track and risk getting stuck out there.

This jindy dollars was cuteee

We were discussing the worse scenario if we crossed the river and got stuck in the thunderstorm.
The weather was no joke, there were lightning and in an open field, you're the closest thing to being struck by one!

CUte card i stole

On the second day we went up to the mountain on a rainy rainy morning, the weather was horrible, but it was nice being away from the Syd heat! We thought we'd just drive around town rather than being locked in our accomodation and it was boring laying in bed all day! The road was so misty and i was honestly nervous when Kevin was driving, but he didn't look bothered at all! lol. We got to the entrance and suddenly the skies started clearing, we did a short walk up that led to an open view of all the peaks including Mt Kozciusko. It was pretty :) And we tried walking down the track, got down to snowy river, and it was pretty flooded from all the rain last night, we stood there and discussed for like 15 minutes whether or not we should cross the river and we almost did! Kevin stepped on a few rocks but they were so pointy he couldn't stand on it enough to be stable, then we ended up turningback, and when we did, the clouds rolled in and it started raining like mad! The mist came in and covered our sight too! Thank God we decided not to go ahead, or else it would've been pretty scary stuff!

Anyways, we made it back at like 1pm! and spent the rest of the day just taking naps on the nice cozy bed. Kevin had a lot of sleep, for all the sleep he lost sleeping at home while i slept like a pig beside him. haha. All in all, it was a nice trip, and i got to tick off 2 places with 1 trip so that's nice. :) I don't think we will ever go back just cause its closer to melbourne than it is to us! and also its a SKI resort area that is only busy during the winter months, and both of us arent into skiing sports. :]

Another year is ending.... Today we will have a simple hotpot dinner (which i was surprised Kevin suggested, apparently he hates boiling food at hotpot restaarnts, but likes it when I pre-boil them and all he has to do is eat) And we will welcome the New Year, and I pray and hope that 2024 has a lot in store for us and to all the people that I care about!

I love yall.... if anyone is still reading this, Happy New Year.
